National Student Council

National Student Council (NSC)

The National Student Council (NSC) powered by the National Association of Student Councils, is a dynamic assembly of elected and appointed student leaders hailing from every corner of the United States. It serves as a powerful advocate for students’ voices at the federal level, ensuring that their diverse perspectives and interests are integral to discussions surrounding education, schools, educators, and their futures.

NSC State Representative-  Nebraska Association of Student Councils will nominate two students for consideration for the National Student Council Nebraska Representative Position

  • Only schools that are members of the NATIONAL Association of Student Councils may nominate
  • Nominations must be submitted on the linked form (student and advisor must fill out) by April 30th.  
    • Nebraska nominees will be announced by May 15th
    • Nebraska winner will be announced by National on June 27th
  • Criteria:
  • Be a rising Junior or Senior in high school.
  • Attend a school with an active National Association of Student Councils membership.
  • Have at least two years of active membership in their school’s student council.
  • Priority given to students that have been involved in the Nebraska Associaiton of Studnt Councils
    1. Attended State Conventions, served on the State Executive Board, been a part of the Nebraska Nationals Delegation, etc.
  • Be able to travel independently to Washington, D.C., or other major U.S. cities.
  • Commit to nine (9) virtual 90-minute meetings (held monthly on the second Wednesday) and at least one (1) in-person gathering (2-3 days in length).
  • Dedicate 3-5 hours per month to meetings, work, and service for the National Student Council.
