North Platte Student Council did an incredible job hosting the state convention for 2024! North Platte is a powerhouse of a student council and jumped straight into their annual canned food drive immediately after the convention. NPHS is killing the stuco game!

National Student Council Conference 2025: Chicago

The Millard South High School Student Council in Omaha recently had the incredible opportunity to attend the 2025 National Student Council Conference held from January 31 to February 2 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk. This prestigious event brought together nearly 2,000 student leaders and advisers from across the United States to share ideas, build leadership skills, and create a national network of future changemakers.

The conference focused on key themes such as leadership development, student voice, service, scholarship, and citizenship. Attendees participated in a variety of workshops, networking sessions, and keynote presentations designed to inspire and empower young leaders.

Keynote Speakers

The event featured several nationally acclaimed speakers who left a lasting impression on attendees:

  • Kahlil Greene, known as the “Gen Z Historian,” shared his unique perspective on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). As Yale University's first Black student body president and a social media influencer with over 600,000 followers, Greene discussed how Gen Z can lead with authenticity and purpose.
  • Jia Jiang, author of Rejection Proof, captivated the audience with his insights on overcoming fear and embracing rejection. His viral TED Talk, What I Learned from 100 Days of Rejection, has inspired millions worldwide.
  • Sharon McMahon, affectionately called “America’s Government Teacher,” educated attendees on democracy and civic engagement. With her top-rated podcast and appearances on major platforms like CNN and Good Morning America, McMahon encouraged students to be thoughtful leaders in their communities.
